The i.m.Wine Philosophy
We look at the i.m.Wine wine selection as organic; some wines will always be on our shelves because they are unfailingly superior year after year; and some will be enjoyed for the pure pleasure of the short-term.
We at i.m.Wine have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for the top-notch reviewers in the United States and abroad. In fact you can find us many days going over the latest Wine Advocate, Steven Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar, Burghound, Wine Spectator and the Gambero Rosso to read what the critics have written, and the accolades and scores given to the great and not-so great wines. In our tasting notes we sometimes refer to these critics, but, ultimately, we let our palate be our guide as to what wines we will bring into the store. Because wine is very personal and everyone has a different perspective on wine, we recommend that the reviews be only one portion of your buying choice. Remember that the critics hated Star Wars the movie when it came out in 1977; we all know how that turned out.
The wines on the list below are separated by country, and then listed by producer. In the future we will have detailed descriptions of the wine, but for now we thought we’d give you a way to see what was in the store, from the comfort of your computer. We will be updating the list bi-weekly to make sure the list is as accurate as possible. Please remember that many of our wines are in the store for a very limited basis, so if there is a wine you want for a dinner, or in your collection, please order it sooner rather than later. Check back often because the list is continually evolving. And don’t forget to call us if you don’t find exactly what you’re looking for.
Ian’s first teachers in the wine business, Andrea Immer and Kevin Zvraly at Windows of the World, gave him an autographed copy of the Windows of the World Wine Course. Inside, Kevin had written this quote.
"In Europe we thought of wine as something as healthy and normal as food and also a great giver of happiness and well being and delight. Drinking wine was not a snobbism nor a sign of sophistication nor a cult; it was as natural as eating and to me as necessary.” Ernest Hemingway
We, at i.m.Wine, most heartily agree.
