Upcoming Wine Tastings
Join i.m.Wine this Friday and Saturday after 1pm at the tasting bar as we travel Italy without a passport or worrying about what we can carry-on in our luggage! We will start on the island of Sardinia with one of the oldest wineries in Italy. We will then head down to Sicily for the native Nero d'Avola grape before hopping over to the heel of the boot to visit our friend Librandi in Calabria. And finally we will head north through the Marches and on to Piedmont for a taste of the "King of Wines".
Friday and Saturday, May 4-5, 2007
2005 Muscadet Sevre et Maine Sur Lie, Le Fils des Gras Moutons, Branger (France, Loire Valley)
regular price $11.99 special price $10.79
Muscadet this good and cheap should actually be a crime, so we thought we’d share the secret this week-end. The Branger family has been making this great Muscadet off the Atlantic coast of France since 1915, and it’s a classic pairing with the fresh seafood of spring and summer.
2005 Gruner Veltliner, Brandl (Austria, Kamptal)
regular price $14.99 special price $13.49
When we tasted this wine we thought the price had to be a joke since Gunther Brandl is one of Austria’s premier producers. He is a humble man that is passionate about his terroir and vineyards. This jem is full of fruit, apples, melon, a touch of mint give way to a luscious mouthfeel.
2005 Riesling, Loimer (Autria, Kamptal)
regular $19.99 special price $17.99
The Loimer vineyards are in some of the favorite sites in the Kamptal region of Austria. This gives this very Austrian style of Riesling its’ delicate, juicy fruitiness. A distinct play between sweetness (slight botrytis) and acidity lends finesse and lightness to the wine. It is a classic, refreshing wine that goes well with light starters, fish dishes, and is excellent as an aperitif.
2004 Tocai Friulano, Livio Felluga (Italy, Friuli)
regular price $24.99 special price $22.49
As has been said many times Livio Felluga is the undisputed patriarch of Friulian wine. The wine-making in his family has been going back 5 generations, and has now been passed to his four children. This is a wine that expresses the beauty and freshness of North-Easter Italy, and we couldn’t imagine a better afternoon or evening on the deck with some prosciutto and fresh cheeses.
2006 Rosé de Fayel, Domaine des Cantarelles (France, Costieres de Nimes)
regular price $9.99 special price $8.99
This is a blend of 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 30% Cabernet Franc displaying beautiful high tone cherry notes and minerals. It is very focused and racy with bright acidity.
2006 Domaine de Gournier Rosé (France, Rhone)
regular price $9.99 special price $8.99
The Barnouin family began as pepinierists, or vine clone experts. This wine is a blend of 55% Syrah, 30% Grenache, and 15% Cinsault. The fruit is harvested expressly to craft rosé, and is vinified in stainless steel tanks to optimize the primary flavors of the grapes. Brightly colored, the explosive red berry fruits in the nose and on the palate are accented by notes of spice & a touch of earth.
2006 Bandol Rosé, Domaine Tempier (France, Provence)
regular price $31.99 special price $28.79
We're pleased to announce that among our new season's rosé wines is the celebrated Bandol Rosé of Domaine Tempier! The wine is estate-bottled from organic fruit-- Grenache, Mourvedre, and Cinsault. A short period of contact between the clear juice that runs from these grapes and their dark black skins blushes the wine a pale, almost peach-skin pink. The nose is aromatic and lively, a blend of fruit, herbs, and perhaps a tang of salt sea air.
