Friday and Saturday, April 13-14, 2007

2005 Ken Forrester Chenin Blanc (South Africa, Stellenbosch)
regular price  $14.99             special price  $13.49
Sexy aromas of lemon, lime, lanolin and honey; supple, rich and full on the palate- this wine is a great example of the harmonious balance which can be achieved between fruit and delicate oak/vanilla flavors. The palate bursts of dried apricots and pineapple, with a hint of vanilla and some typical honey notes on the long lasting finish.

2006 Horton Vineyards Viognier (USA, Virginia)
regular price  $15.99             special price  $14.39
The Viognier grape earned is reputation and fame in the small appellation of Condrieu in France, but certain parts of Virginia seems to have the temperature, soil and climate for the grape to thrive. Horton Vineyards has been making great Viognier for a long time, and we couldn’t help but put this classic in our shop. The wine has won accolades from the wine press for years, but even still we had to have it for its freshness and complexity—it also goes sooo well with grilled fish.

2005 K Vintners House Wine, Red
regular price  $13.99             special price  $12.59
Value wine of the Week
i.m.Wine has been looking for this wine every since we opened, and we are pleased to be able to let you in on our little secret gem from Washington State. Owner and winemaker Charles Smith opened this winery in 2001 with a mission to create great wines with the best fruit he can find on the Wahluke Slope and Walla Walla Valley’s.

The “House Red” is a testament to his skill as the blend has changed each year--the 2005 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. This is a silky, round and generous with its spicy, earthy plum and blackberry flavors, lingering nicely as the finish persists.

2003 Rioja, “La Montesa”, Palacios Remondo (Spain, Rioja)
regular price  $18.99             special price  $17.09
A blend of 40% Grenache, 45% Tempranillo, and the rest Graciano and Mazuelo, this wine was aged in French oak. A beautifully made, elegant Crianza, it offers sweet, herb-tinged, smoky black cherry and currant fruit, lovely freshness, medium body, silky tannin, and a long, persistent finish.

2003 Saint Chinian, “Une et Mille Nuits”, Canet Valette (France, Saint Chinian)
regular price  $16.99             special price  $15.29
This relative newcomer of a winery in the Western Languedoc (founded in 1992 by a father and son team), near the foot of the Pyrenees, produces an artisinal, organic classic from traditional grape varieties: Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. The name means “One of many nights” It is a fleshy wine with flavors of black cherries, mocha and “garrigue”. It is very elegant with, lots of body and depth in the mouth.

2004 Rioja, “Vinas de Gain”, Artadi (Spain, Rioja)
regular price  $27.99             special price  $25.19
In 1985 the dynamic winemaker, Juan Carlos Lopez de la Calle set out to prove that Tempranillo could make profound wines. His proof came with Artadi, made from high-altitude, low-cropped old vines producing some of Rioja's most exciting new wines. The 2004 Vinas de Gain is sourced from vineyards situated at an average of 600 meters ("Gain" is an old Spanish word meaning "the top"). The minimum vine age is 40 years. The Gain is full of ripe fruit, concentrated in the mid-palate with a long finish. Enjoy this red with grilled lamb chops or the Spanish naional dish, fabada!

2004 Provenance Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon (USA, Napa Valley)
regular price  $43.99             special price  $39.59
The grapes for this wine are grown at the historic vineyard Georges III, first planted by Thomas Rutherford in the late 1800s. The vineyards are now owned by the Beckstoffer Family and the wine is made by Tom Rinaldi (he cut his teeth at Duckhorn Vineyards). This elegant, voluptuous wine demonstrates the distinctiveness of the Rutherford appellation. The wine opens to mocha, soy, French-vanilla ice cream and the classic cocoa-dust finish. This is a Bordelaise-style wine in its depth and its "hidden treasure" of fruit elegance and subtlety. It is surprisingly soft and approachable with sweet oak spice and black olive throughout the finish. This wine calls out for a NY Strip Steak!
